Jets Have 5 Major Problems to Solve Before Playoffs
Lineup consistencies, special teams, and others are among the biggest issues the Jets need to address ahead of the playoffs.
The term “fraud” has been thrown around with the Winnipeg Jets as of late, and while I don’t think that is a fair assessment, those accusations aren’t going to go away if the team can’t fix these five things before the playoffs.
1. Lineup Consistencies
The debate has been going on all season, and it is safe to say this is the point of no return for Rick Bowness and the top line. Nearly every stat says that Nikolaj Ehlers makes that top line better, and yet he isn’t getting a good chance to play there.
Along with that, nearly every stat is saying that Kyle Connor and Mark Schefiele need to be split up. There is no arguing that Connor is one of the best forwards on the Jets, and in the league, but his defensive liabilities make it tough to watch when he isn’t producing.
I’m not saying I know exactly what will and won’t work, but advanced stats have enough evidence to make some suggestions and that what Bowness is currently using isn’t working.
