April 9, 2024 by Erica Rosenbaum
The New Jersey Devils announced that star forward Jack Hughes will miss the remainder of the 2023-24 season to undergo shoulder surgery on April 10, 2024. Unfortunately, the news does not come as a surprise as the 22-year-old center has had shoulder-related injuries since the 2021-22 NHL season.

The Ugly Side of an Opening Faceoff Melee
April 5, 2024 by Jordan Reinhardt
In a rare twist, hockey became the talk of the sports world this week. Why? That opening faceoff melee between the New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils that saw the immediate ejection of eight players, that’s why. Not because Auston Matthews is in a race for 70 goals in a season. Not because Artemi Panarin scored his 45th goal of the season in that game, which tied NHL legend Adam Oates for fourth-most goals in a season by an undrafted player, or because the NHL now has two players (potentially three) who have scored 130 points in a season for the first time in over 20 years. But because of a five-on-five brawl. In hockey circles, which includes fans, pundits, former players, and everyone in between, that can be a divisive thing.
4 Potential Devils Offseason Trade Partners
April 5, 2024 by Josh Reinitz
With most of their core players signed to long-term contracts, the New Jersey Devils will not need to dip their toe into the deep end of the free-agent waters this summer. Instead, they would be wiser to target complementary players and acquire them through trades. They have built up a stockpile of assets in prospects, NHL roster players, and draft picks sufficient to command a return adequate to address the team’s needs. General manager Tom Fitzgerald has shown a penchant for making “hockey” trades throughout his tenure. He is willing to part with talented players who haven’t reached their potential to fill more immediate needs. He has also been willing to use his draft picks to acquire players his staff has targeted to fit the team’s needs. He will have to marshall all of the tools in his arsenal this summer if he is going to get the Devils back on a winning course and not waste the prime years of his stars.
