Islanders Signing Anthony Duclair Was Best-Case Scenario
July 2, 2024 by Michael Ostrower
It was a hectic opening few hours across the hockey world, with extensions and trades involving the league’s top stars. For the first time in a while, the New York Islanders were active at the opening of free agency, signing free agent forward Anthony Duclair. He was signed to a four-year contract worth $3.5 million annually. Defenseman Mike Reilly was also brought back on a one-year deal worth $1.25 million. Islanders fans have reached the consensus belief that general manager Lou Lamoriello made a fantastic decision on both signings.

July 2, 2024 by Mike Fink
Free agency has begun, and the signings are coming in hot. Even the New York Islanders, a team that rarely makes a move, got in on the party, signing Anthony Duclair and re-signing Mike Reilly. While they’ve been active, the Nashville Predators are arguably the busiest team so far. Just look at all the moves they’ve made one day into free agency.
Lamoriello Still Has Work To Do This Offseason
July 3, 2024 by Mike Fink
The New York Islanders have already surprised everyone by being active in the offseason. They re-signed Mike Reilly to a one-year deal, a move that solidifies the later lines of the defense. Then they went out and signed Anthony Duclair to a four-year deal, adding a veteran forward to the top six.
Islanders Trading Pageau Is Increasingly Likely With Recent Moves
July 4, 2024 by Michael Ostrower
The New York Islanders had a surprisingly-eventful opening to free agency compared to previous dull offseasons. After a successful 2024 NHL Entry Draft, the team signed Anthony Duclair to a four-year, $14 million contract and Mike Reilly to a team-friendly one-year, $1.25 million contract. In addition to the Islanders’ moves, several shocking decisions by teams across the league could potentially pave the way for the Islanders to part with their 2020 Trade Deadline acquisition, Jean-Gabriel Pageau.
Islanders: 4 Low-Risk Free-Agent Forwards to Target
July 4, 2024 by Michael Ostrower
The New York Islanders made two moves at the start of free agency, signing Anthony Duclair and re-signing Mike Reilly to team-friendly deals. Duclair was presumably brought in to join Mat Barzal and Bo Horvat on the first line, adding a speedy winger with the upside of 25 goals. Reilly was brought back to play alongside Scott Mayfield and on the powerplay. While both moves help the team, the Islanders failed to address last season’s struggles in the bottom six. With many free agents still available, who could they target?
