Islanders’ Rumors Over Top Prospect Going to KHL Highlights Major Organization Problem
The team has not provided the 23-year-old with an opportunity to play in the NHL.
The unknown of prospects can be exciting for any NHL organization – but they need opportunities to play. The New York Islanders, on the other hand, find themselves in a situation where they could potentially lose top prospect Ruslan Iskhakov because of the lack of opportunity they provided to him.
For months, there have been rumors of the Russian native heading closer to home to play in the KHL. They were first spread by X, formerly Twitter, account Hockey News Hub, noting that Iskhakov could be signing with the league’s CSKA Moscow after the season ends. However, The Hockey News reached out to the 23-year-old’s agent, Dan Milstein, who said a decision on where to play won’t be made until the summer. But still, it seems that there’s a real chance it will happen.
