New York Islanders' Unrealistic Trade Partners for Ilya Sorokin
May 16, 2024 by Michael Ostrower
After signing an eight-year, $66 million contract extension with the New York Islanders last summer, Ilya Sorokin had the worst season of his professional hockey career. The netminder went 25-19-12 with a .909 save percentage (SV%), 3.01 goals-against average (GAA), and 1.4 goals saved above expected (GSAx), according to Money Puck. He also lost the starting role to Semyon Varlamov late in the season, showing an organizational worry in the former Vezina Trophy finalist.
Los Angeles Kings’ Free Agent Needs
May 14, 2024 by Michael Ostrower
With the Los Angeles Kings’ offseason now underway, it is becoming increasingly clear what issues they need to address. The team has no one glaring issue, but they need to assess their forward and defensive core, as well as the goaltending tandem if they want to improve for next season. May 14, 2024 by Peter Baracchini
With the draft lottery completed and the first 23 spots of the 2024 NHL Draft being set, we’re getting that much closer to the two two-day spectacle at The Sphere in Las Vegas. As a result, I thought it would be fun to do a little mock draft ahead of time.
The San Jose Sharks had the worst record this season, going 19-54-9 and having a points percentage of .287. As a result, they had the best chances to win the lottery and did so, earning the chance to select highly coveted prospect Macklin Celebrini.
Kings Extend David Rittich to One-Year Contract
May 15, 2024 by Michael Ostrower
The Los Angeles Kings have signed goaltender David Rittich to a one-year, $1 million contract. Rittich joined the Kings organization as a third-string goaltender in the 2023 offseason but earned a call-up to the NHL following Pheonix Copley’s season-ending injury. Rittich went 13-6-3 with a 2.15 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage (SV%).
