Hurricanes Can Stake Claim as NHL’s Top Team on Road Trip
October 14, 2023 by Zach Martin
It’s that time of year for the Carolina Hurricanes. The team will embark on their two-week road trip that features California, among other stops, due to the North Carolina State Fair that started on Oct. 12 and will run through Oct. 22. Every season, Carolina travels to make it easier for traffic during fair time. The Hurricanes will face six teams during the trip, with a stop at home before game six. Three games will be in California, one in Washington (the state), one in Colorado, and one in Florida.
Hurricanes Split Weekend Back to Back in Southern California
October 16, 2023 by Zach Martin
Over the weekend, the Carolina Hurricanes traveled to Southern California to start their six-game, two-week road trip. The Hurricanes faced the Los Angeles Kings on Oct. 14 and finished the second half of the back-to-back at the Honda Center the following night versus the Anaheim Ducks.
There were some bright spots in the two games, but there were also some things Carolina needs to fix before they face the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday, Oct. 17. Here’s what went right and what went wrong over the weekend.
Hurricanes’ Teravainen Starts Season Red Hot
October 17, 2023 by Zach Martin
Entering the 2023-24 season, no one knew where he would start on the Hurricanes roster after a tough 2022-23 season where he had 12 goals and 37 points in 68 games played. The addition of Bunting and the eventual return of Andrei Svechnikov might cause a conundrum of who could stay in the top six.
Going into opening night versus the Senators, he got a chance to play in the top-six due to Svechnikov still coming back from knee surgery that he had back in March 2023. While Svechnikov could be out until the end of October, slotting Teravainen on the second line with fellow Finn Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Czechia-born Martin Necas made sense. Some thought he would be a placeholder until Svechnikov is back. However, once the season started, Teravainen started to prove that he belonged in the top six. In three games, he has made a case to consider keeping him up there.
