Hurricanes’ Noesen Scores 100th Point in Loss vs. Flyers
November 16, 2023 by Zach Martin
After spending 11 of the first 15 games on the road to start the season, the Carolina Hurricanes return home for a long homestand for the next couple of weeks. The team had three days off after their back-to-back road trip in Florida before facing the Philadephia Flyers on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at home. The game was the Hurricanes’ Hockey Fights Cancer night, where there was a plethora of purple in and around PNC Arena.
The players wore purple stick tape on their blades for the cause and gave out purple bells for survivors or loved ones who lost family due to cancer. Carolina was coming into the game on the back of a 4-0 shutout win over the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Flyers were coming off a 4-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings. The Hurricanes were hoping to build off their win versus the Lightning. This game, however, did not go the way the Hurricanes expected.
Hurricanes’ Jarvis in Star Discussion After Multi-Point Night
November 19, 2023 by Zach Martin
After what many thought of as a letdown game versus the Philadelphia Flyers, the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday, Nov. 18 hosted the Pittsburgh Penguins for their first meeting of the season. Pittsburgh came into the game after losing 5-2 to the New Jersey Devils. On the other side, Carolina was looking to bounce back after their 3-1 loss to the aforementioned Flyers. It was a huge game early on in the season for Metropolitan Division foes looking to right the ship. In the end, it was a huge night for the Hurricanes as they defeated the Penguins 4-2 to secure the two points.
Some players for the Hurricanes contributed in a huge way to a complete team game win. Brent Burns, Jaccob Slavin, Teuvo Teravainen, and Sebastian Aho all had multi-point nights along with netminder Antti Raanta’s 26 saves. However, the one who really stood out amongst the rest was the youngest Hurricanes player on the team.
