Hurricanes Dug Deep To Force Overtime in Loss vs Islanders
December 1, 2023 by Zach Martin
The Carolina Hurricanes played one of their better games on Thursday (Nov. 30) versus the New York Islanders. By all accounts, they dominated throughout the game, outshooting the Islanders 43-16 and keeping them to single digits through every period of play. In the second period alone, there was less than five minutes to go in the frame when they got a shot on goal.
However, the Islanders capitalized on those limited shots and won the game in overtime, 5-4. The Hurricanes had to dig deep to force overtime and secure a point, and it begs the question – what went right and what went wrong? Here’s a look at this wild night in “Raleighwood.”
Hurricanes Goaltending Plaguing Team Despite Strong Blue Line
December 1, 2023 by Tommy Bennett
The Metropolitan Division is doing the exact opposite of what everyone predicted. Who would’ve expected the Washington Capitals and Philadelphia Flyers to crack the top four spots? However, the gap is not wide and four points separate second place from seventh place.
The Hurricanes currently sit in second place in the Division. However, they should have a much better record and inconsistent efforts have become their downfall. Overall, this is a good hockey team but has been plagued by poor efforts in net. The system that head coach Rod Brind’Amour has in place proves to be efficient and the team should have better results.
It’s Time to Call Hurricanes’ Sebastian Aho a Superstar
December 3, 2023 by Zach Martin
It’s officially time to call Carolina Hurricanes forward Sebastian Aho a superstar in the NHL. There should be no more debates on if he is one or not. In any other system with any other team, he is a 40-goal scorer. When it comes to Carolina, he is an elite two-way 200-foot player who can be used in all situations. He is averaging 19:49 of ice time during the 2023-24 season after playing in 20 of the Hurricanes’ 23 games. There is no reason why he is not a superstar; it’s time people around the league along with the hockey world put respect on his name and status.
Hurricanes Need to Keep Orlov & Chatfield Together
December 3, 2023 by Tommy Bennett
The Carolina Hurricanes have a system in place that works. Every player buys into the defensive structure that’s in place and goal scoring comes from everyone. There is not just one player that is relied on for goals, as all four lines have key contributors. However, one area that the team relies on more is the back end.
When it comes to the offensive side of things, the Hurricanes’ defense are not afraid to jump into the play. Furthermore, the blue line has eclipsed 65 points combined this season and is a key part of the success. For the most part, the back end is solidified with its pairs but there is one glaring pair that needs to be solidified.
