Rangers Continue to Be Haunted by Joe Sakic
November 29, 2023 by Tom Castro
NHL Hall of Famer Joe Sakic never delivered much in the way of on-ice heartbreak to the New York Rangers, the star center spending 13 of his 20 NHL seasons in the Western Conference and thus mostly facing them sparingly during the regular season. In his only playoff matchup with the Blueshirts, Sakic’s top-seeded Quebec Nordiques were stunned in the opening round in six games in 1995 by the defending Stanley Cup champion, Mark Messier-led Rangers.
And while Sakic recorded more than a point per game against the Rangers during the regular season, with 41 in 37 games, his 1.1 average in the matchup was less than his career mark of 1.2. Yet a closer look at the sublime Sakic’s career reveals some unfortunate intersections with the Rangers that represent a painful reminder of what could have been for the Blueshirts – missed opportunities that continue to haunt them now.
Rangers’ Depth Takes Hit With Chytil & Kakko Injuries
November 29, 2023 by Lucas Standel
Last season, the New York Rangers were one of the healthier teams in the NHL. They did not lose many players to injuries and did not lose players for long periods of time. Now, as this season has progressed, they have been hit with the injury bug on multiple occasions. Adam Fox, Igor Shesterkin, and Filip Chytil were all injured in the same game against the Carolina Hurricanes.
While Shesterkin has returned and Fox is likely to return for the team’s next game, Chytil is still out and now they have another injured forward. Kaapo Kakko injured his leg during the last game against the Buffalo Sabres. With both him and Chytil being placed in long-term injured reserve (LTIR), the Rangers’ forward depth has taken a massive hit. How will they fare without two of their top-six forwards for the foreseeable future?
Rangers News & Rumors: Fox, Kakko, Chytil & Roster Moves
November 28, 2023 by Michael DeRosa
In this latest edition of New York Rangers News & Rumors, Rangers star defenseman Adam Fox is inching closer to his much-anticipated return to the lineup. In other news, winger Kaapo Kakko suffered a scary leg injury last night (Nov. 27) against the Buffalo Sabres and has been placed on long-term injured reserve. Filip Chytil has also been placed on LTIR. Meanwhile, the Rangers have made a few other roster moves.
Rangers Not Missing Ryan Reaves’ Toughness
November 28, 2023 by Jesse Courville-Lynch
The New York Rangers have been red-hot to start out the 2023-24 season and have been the dominant team many fans expected them to be. The team has been without their star defenseman Adam Fox and even had to spend a few games without their star goaltender Igor Shesterkin, but this team continues to dominate every step of the way. One player they decided to move on from last season was forward Ryan Reaves who was a fan favorite, but simply fell out of favor with the Rangers and requested a trade which he eventually got, to the Minnesota Wild.
