How Should The Avalanche Handle Bowen Byram Come Trade Deadline?
With many names linked to the Avalanche at the trade deadline, is Byram safe?
The Colorado Avalanche had a near-perfect start to the 2023-24 NHL season but have seemed to stumble a bit coming out of the NHL All-Star break, and with little than a couple of weeks away from the trade deadline on March 8, many questions and concerns could be answered by then. Rumors and speculation are coming out on who the Avalanche might acquire and, if so, who they would send in a mock trade. And one name that is starting to pop up increasingly is Bowen Byram.
Byram has eight goals and 11 assists for 19 points this season, and his contract as a restricted free agent is due next summer of 2025. While his production has been spotty, this past week and a half has shined for him and shows the full potential he can bring to any given night. With six points in his last four games, he can pick his spots to jump into the offense anytime, and only being 22 shows room for a lot of growth, which is a significant factor going into this trade deadline.
Whether it be Jake Allen or Marc-Andre Fleury to help with the goaltending situation, Adam Henrique or Boone Jenner to help with center depth, or even adding another winger in Vladimir Tarasenko or Anthony Duclair to bolster the top six, there are a lot of opportunities to improve this roster. What is the asking price for these players, and are you willing to give specific picks/players to improve? Before this trade deadline, let’s review reasons to keep or trade Bowen Byram.
