2024 NHL Draft Rankings – Horn’s Top 100 for April
April 5, 2024 by Logan Horn
With the 2023-24 season coming to a close in most leagues, and many prospects’ draft seasons nearing the finish line, I think it’s time to do another ranking of the top prospects available in the 2024 NHL Draft. Some players will still have the chance to show what they’re made of in their league’s playoffs or even at the upcoming U18 World Championship, but others will have nothing to do but prepare for the draft combine.
Get to Know the Newest Carolina Hurricane: Scott Morrow
April 3, 2024 by Zach Martin
As the NHL world sets its sights on the upcoming playoffs later in April, the Carolina Hurricanes made some news on Tuesday (April 2) afternoon. They signed UMass hockey defenseman Scott Morrow to a three-year entry-level contract (ELC) that will see him through the 2025-26 season. There was no indication that a deal was on the horizon until Saturday, March 30 on Sportsnet. How did this all come about and what led to the deal getting done between the two sides? Also with that, what can Morrow bring to the Hurricanes in 2023-24 and beyond?
Breaking Down the 2024 Hobey Baker Award Finalists
April 4, 2024 by Michael Ostrower
The 2024 Hobey Baker Award finalists, named on Friday, are Boston College’s Cutter Gauthier, Boston University’s Macklin Celebrini, and University of North Dakota’s Jackson Blake. In what was one of the best seasons of college hockey in a long time, there was a wide variety of players deserving of being a finalist. With the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Frozen Four finishing soon, both Gauthier and Celebrini will be contending for the championship. The winner of the award for top NCAA player is set to be announced Friday, April 12, and whoever comes out the victor will add themselves to a lengthy list of college legends that have proceeded to dominate at the NHL level.Â

Devils Hope Defense Prospects Can Improve Their Blue Line Down The Road
April 3, 2024 by Mike Fink
The Utica Comets easily defeated the Bridgeport Islanders in their Tuesday, April 2 game with a 4-1 victory in a game they needed. The Islanders’ offense has struggled all season, with only 2.19 goals per game and five goals in the last five games, but the Comets’ defense put together a strong showing regardless. Not only did they allow only one goal in the game but limited a team that averages 30.88 shots on the net per game to only 24 shots on the goal, a testament to the strong play from the defensive unit.
Predators’ Prospect Matthew Wood Eyes Transfer Options
April 3, 2024 by Gabe Fly
Standout Nashville Predators prospect Matthew Wood announced his intention to enter the NCAA’s transfer portal last week. At just 19, the former UCONN Huskies forward has already proven himself to be a talented player in college hockey and a blue-chip prospect for the Preds and will look to further develop his skills by transferring away from Connecticut to a more talented and highly-ranked team.

April 3, 2024 by William Espy
Hockey has been tough to watch in San Jose this season. Not just the NHL’s San Jose Sharks, but their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda, haven’t been great either. But Monday’s news made their final games much more interesting.
