Blue Jackets’ Robinson Trade Was First of Many Difficult Decisions
December 7, 2023 by Nicholas Arnold
The Columbus Blue Jackets have made their first trade of the 2023-24 season. No, it’s not a blockbuster that we might have expected shipping out a goalie or a defenseman, as had been rumored in recent weeks. It was longtime bottom-six grinder Eric Robinson who was a casualty of circumstance and traded to the Buffalo Sabres in return for a conditional seventh-round pick.
Blue Jackets Get Cap & Roster Flexibility From Robinson Trade
December 7, 2023 by Mark Scheig
The Columbus Blue Jackets have made a trade to start the process of unclogging their roster jam. Turns out the roster space was much-more needed than first anticipated.
The Blue Jackets traded winger Eric Robinson to the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday in exchange for a 2025-conditional seventh-round pick. According to CapFriendly, the condition on the pick is if Robinson plays 45 NHL games this season, the Blue Jackets get a 2025 seventh-round pick that originally belonged to the Nashville Predators. Anything short of that threshold would result in no pick being transferred.
Blue Jackets Key Decisions Have Shattered Trust With Fanbase
December 6, 2023 by Mark Scheig
Another game, another blown multi-goal lead. This time, the Blue Jackets saw a 3-0 third period lead disappear in under seven minutes.
To their credit, the Blue Jackets were able to gather themselves enough to not allow another goal in the third period. That secured them at least a point. However, they never touched the puck in overtime and the game was over in 33 seconds.
3 Takeaways From Blue Jackets’ 4-3 Loss to the Kings
December 6, 2023 by Nicholas Arnold
Another Tuesday, another loss for the Columbus Blue Jackets. After what seemed like a promising summer for the team, landing a couple of top-four defenders and the reigning Hobey Baker Award winner, has turned into another blunder of a start to the year. Their Dec. 5, 2023, game against the Los Angeles Kings was a microcosm of the team’s past several seasons and a sign that things aren’t getting any better.
Blue Jackets News & Rumors: Gavrikov, Voronkov & More
December 5, 2023 by Mark Scheig
The Columbus Blue Jackets just endured a roller-coaster week. They opened with an impressive victory over the Boston Bruins. They then were defeated by the Montreal Canadiens before securing a win against the Ottawa Senators. Then in the Bruins rematch on Sunday, Brad Marchand ensured the series would be split.
The Blue Jackets played perhaps some of their best hockey in the first 40 minutes in Boston on Sunday. They were only able to get a single goal out of it. Thus the frustration in finding consistency continues.
Blue Jackets Power Play Continues to Betray Them
December 4, 2023 by Mark Scheig
The Columbus Blue Jackets played pretty well for the first 40 minutes of their game Sunday night against the Boston Bruins. They took a 1-0 lead into the locker room. But then it was all downhill from there.
Brad Marchand scored a natural hat trick in the third period with the last two of those coming on the power play to lift the Bruins to a 3-1 win. Jeremy Swayman got his revenge from Monday’s loss by stopping 24/25 shots he faced. Spencer Martin stopped 25/28 for the Blue Jackets.
Blue Jackets Now on Clock to Decide Goaltending Future
December 2, 2023 by Mark Scheig
This moment was going to happen sooner or later. On Saturday, the Columbus Blue Jackets have started the clock on deciding their immediate goaltending future.
The Blue Jackets have placed goaltender Daniil Tarasov on long-term injured reserve retro to Oct 12. They then assigned him to the Cleveland Monsters for a conditioning assignment.
3 Blue Jackets Youngsters Hurt by the Roster Logjam
December 1, 2023 by Nicholas Arnold
The Columbus Blue Jackets have a problem: too many legitimate roster players under contract. After several seasons in the basement of the NHL’s standings, they have worked up a decent prospect pool, maybe the best in franchise history. However, the short-term prioritization of veterans could be hurting the long-term development of some of their younger players. Here’s a look at three of those youngsters who are being pushed down the totem pole.
