Yes, it’s very early in the season, but the Detroit Red Wings are fourth in the entire NHL, just three points behind the top spot held by the defending Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights. All in all, it’s great to be a Red Wings fan right now. But there’s always room for improvement, so let’s dive in.

Griffins Notebook: Hanas, Cossa, Defense & More

While the Detroit Red Wings have taken the NHL by storm thanks to their high-flying offense to start the season, their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins, aren’t exactly following suit. Despite opening up the season with back-to-back wins on home ice over the Colorado Eagles, things did not go the Griffins’ way when the teams met up at Blue FCU Arena in Colorado. The Griffins’ 2-2 record currently places them in a tie for second place in the AHL’s Central Division.
