Avalanche Prospect Spotlight: Graham Sward
March 14, 2024 by Stefano Rubino (Substack Premium Piece)
On March 7, 2024, during the NHL Trade Deadline, the Avalanche acquired forward Yakov Trenin and Graham Sward in exchange for Jeremy Hanzel and a 2025 third-round pick. The Avalanche acquired Trenin to bolster their depth and swapped talented defensemen prospects in the same trade. While I was a big fan of Hanzel’s game and was excited he signed his ELC before being traded off, looking into Sward's game is something to be excited about.
Revisiting the Nazem Kadri Trade
March 13, 2024 by The Old Prof
When the Toronto Maple Leafs completed their 2018-19 season, they had failed once again to get past the dreaded Boston Bruins during the first playoff series. When the season concluded, general manager Kyle Dubas had some heavy lifting to do. His defense was weak and, as the general manager, he faced salary-cap problems brought on in part by expensive contracts being paid to no-longer-worth-the-money players like Patrick Marleau and Nikita Zaitsev who had been signed by his predecessor Lou Lamoriello.

Avalanche’s O’Connor to Have Season-Ending Surgery
March 10, 2024 by Stefano Rubino
While team practices were taking place, it was recently announced that forward Logan O’Connor will have season-ending hip surgery this week and will miss the rest of the regular season and any post-season games.
Grading the Colorado Avalanche’s Trade Deadline
March 9, 2024 by Stefano Rubino
Entering the trade deadline week, many key areas needed to be fixed or adjusted, and it’s fair to say General Manager Chris MacFarland and President of Hockey Operations Joe Sakic did just that and went above and beyond what many like myself would have expected to achieve this trade deadline.
Avalanche Hope Mittelstadt Can Solve Center Depth Woes
March 8, 2024 by Kerry Collins
The Colorado Avalanche were busy buyers at the trade deadline, and one of the most important decisions they made was to take another swing at a spot in the lineup that has been a headache for the past two seasons. Ever since Nazem Kadri left after the team’s Stanley Cup-winning season in 2022, the Avs have been trying to find a consistent performer as the team’s second-line center.
