July 10 saw a big trade between two “Original Six” franchises that saw one of them obtain the greatest goal scorer in their team’s history. Also, a current star inked a new contract, and one of the greatest goaltenders of all time came out of retirement. The THW time machine is warmed up and ready to take on our daily journey through the years.

The great Jacques Plante summed it up this way, “Imagine sitting at your desk. You make a mistake. A red light goes on behind you, a siren starts sounding and 18,000 people are yelling at you. That’s what it’s like to be a goaltender.”
NHL’s 10 Most Impressive Streaks
Numbers, stats, and figures are an integral part of the hockey viewing experience. The game is rife with scoring slumps, hot streaks, losing skids, and dynastic stretches of winning. The thing is, not all streaks are created equal. Sometimes remarkable individual accolades take center stage as one particular player lights the league on fire. During the 2018-19 season, Patrick Kane was that player when he tallied 43 points during a 20-game point streak that spanned across two months.

Remembering the Los Angeles Kings’ Triple Crown Line
Growing up in the 1970s as a hockey fan in Los Angeles, I was intimately familiar with three things very few Angelenos had even a remote grasp upon: 1) Los Angeles had an NHL hockey team, 2) said hockey team was named the Kings, and 3) the Triple Crown Line was bitchin’, man.
