The NHL’s Trade Deadline is just over a week away, and the newly appointed general manager of the Senators has yet to make his first move. There is certainty that Steve Staios will make his first through the deadline, but what does he even have to work with?

This is a breakdown of every asset the Senators should, shouldn’t, and can’t use at this season’s deadline.

The Untouchables

The word untouchable seems to be thrown out a lot in the NHL these days. Of course, if a general manager calls and offers Connor McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon, or Auston Matthews in a one-for-one deal, the Senators have nobody they should say no to that deal for. As realistic possibilities, there are no circumstances where these three players should be dealt.
