Flyers Prospect Report: March 2024
For this month, our risers include Alex Bump, Owen McLaughlin, and Carter Sotheran!
Welcome to our Philadelphia Flyers Prospect Report for March 2024! In this edition, we look at how 11 different prospects have performed for the Orange and Black this month, spanning across leagues in North America and Europe. We examine the big guns, those who have risen in the rankings, and some players to keep an eye on.
Some players have finished their seasons already, while others didn’t play much in March at all. Only active players will be included.
Now on to the prospect report…
The Main Culprits
Denver Barkey, Forward
Denver Barkey of the London Knights might have had his best month of the season in March. The 5-foot-9 forward ended the regular season on a nine-game point streak to reach the century mark — he finished the season with 35 goals and 67 assists for 102 points in 64 contests, tied for fourth in scoring in the entire league. In 10 March regular season games, he had four goals and 12 assists for 16 points and a plus-4 rating.
With the Knights clinching the playoffs as the first seed in their conference, Barkey is looking to add some postseason success to his resume. In two games, he has contributed to his Knights’ 2-0 series lead with a goal and two assists for three points and a plus-1 rating.
Samu Tuomaala, Forward
For most of his rookie campaign in the American Hockey League (AHL), Samu Tuomaala was scoring at a pretty good rate. It has died down a bit recently, but the 21-year-old winger is sitting at 15 goals and 27 assists for 42 total points as his Lehigh Valley Phantoms hunt for a playoff spot. In 14 March contests, he had two goals and three assists for five points and a minus-1 rating.
Tuomaala could end up being a member of the Flyers next season if he closes this one out strong and plays well in training camp. If the team undergoes serious offseason change, it could be his time to shine. His speed and scoring ability give him a good shot to make an impact in 2024-25.
