Wild’s Dewar & Special Teams Step Up in Win Over Predators
December 1, 2023 by Mariah Stark (Holland)
Fresh off their first win in two weeks, the Minnesota Wild were looking to keep the good times going when they flew into Tennessee to take on the Nashville Predators on Hockey Fights Cancer Night, Thursday, Nov. 30. The arena held a moment of silence in honor of those lost to Cancer and the players held signs for who they fight for to cap off a very nice moment before the scoring commenced.
The Wild have a couple of connections to the Predators, including former Wild player Andrew Brunette, who is now the Predators’ head coach. He took over from the Wild’s newest head coach, John Hynes, in May 2023. This was the first time Hynes had been back to Nashville since being let go, and his team didn’t waste any time getting on the board first.
In their win over the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday (Nov. 28), they played a strong, gritty, disciplined game and did the same against the Predators last night. However, this time around, their offense made a big splash with many players contributing, and that’s where we’ll start.
6 Minnesota Wild Prospect Hopefuls for 2024 WJC
November 29, 2023 by Tyson McKay
The weather is turning bitterly cold, snow is blanketing the ground, and Christmas lights are starting to appear. That can only mean one thing: it’s almost time for the 2024 World Junior Championship (WJC).
The tournament kicks off in less than a month in Gothenburg, Sweden, and once again, the Minnesota Wild should be well represented with their high-end prospect pool stocked with some of the best young players each country has to offer.
Marc-Andre Fleury’s Case as a Hall of Famer
November 28, 2023 by Shaun Filippelli
Marc-André Fleury has been one of the best goaltenders in the NHL since he was picked first overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2003. One of only three goalies in league history to ever be selected that early in any NHL Entry Draft, Fleury is by far the most accomplished of that group. He continues to make good on that scouting report, too, as he’s achieved a consistency of success that few others have — of any position.
Fleury works his way into the conversation among the league’s best every year, even while others enjoy performances that may shine brighter within a standalone season. The major difference ends up being that his counterparts can’t sustain such heights in the same way that Fleury has made his norm. As other names come and go from that list, Fleury’s remains embedded.
