Red Wings’ Simon Edvinsson: The Future Is Now

As of late, it’s been a common sight to see Simon Edvinsson among the players celebrating a Detroit Red Wings goal. In fact, he’s been on the ice for 57 percent of Detroit’s even-strength tallies since April 1. Perhaps more importantly, the Red Wings have allowed only one five-on-five goal in that same timespan with Edvinsson defending. One goal against in four games’ worth of tough competition.

Detroit Red Wings forward Patrick Kane has done a lot in his illustrious NHL career. In addition to winning three Stanley Cups and earning himself an undisputable place in the Hockey Hall of Fame one day, he has now scored his 20th goal of the season. That ties him with fellow American legend Mike Modano with his 16th goal-20 campaign, most among U.S.-born players.

Red Wings Could See Massive Influx of Youth in 2024-25 Season

The Detroit Red Wings have been rebuilding for quite some time now, and through these lean years they have succeeded in developing one of the league’s strongest pools of young talent. Some of these players, like Axel Sandin Pellikka or Trey Augustine will need a while still before challenging for a roster spot in Hockey Town, while others could figure into Detroit’s lineup as soon as this coming Fall.
