Edmonton Oilers Select Sam O’Reilly 32nd Overall
June 28, 2024 by Jim Bay
Sam O’Reilly is constantly willing to get involved and does whatever it takes to regain possession with his strength and body positioning. He’s constantly battling and getting to the tough areas of the ice. Be it below the goal line, in the corners, or along the boards, O’Reilly is in the middle of it all and usually comes out on top. He tends to do most of his damage in tight spaces, driving hard to the net and creating havoc for a scoring or second-chance opportunity. He has a decent shot from outside and is regularly available in the open ice, putting himself in the right spots at the right time to make a play or finish them.
3 Surprise Moves Oilers Could Make During Draft and Free Agency
June 28, 2024 by Jim Parseons
The Edmonton Oilers are likely to be relatively quiet this week. Without a draft pick until the second round of the NHL Draft and without a GM at the helm (Jeff Jackson is overseeing things this week), the Oilers aren’t likely to be among the busier teams. While the team has 10 pending UFAs, Edmonton has most of its core pieces locked up. The expectation is that some of these UFAs will be re-signed, but what else might the Oilers do? Are there any surprises in store?
Ranking the Last 5 Stanley Cup Final Game 7s
June 28, 2024 by Jordan Reinhardt
Yes, I know what you’re thinking. The NHL Entry Draft is tonight. The day when franchises inspire hope with flashy draft picks, make significant personnel changes, and look toward the future. However, just a few short days ago, all eyes in the hockey world were on Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, FL. It was, of course, the crescendo of a Stanley Cup Final that was as drama- and storyline-filled as a playoff series that we’ve seen in recent memory. It wouldn’t be so bold to say that it was one of the biggest games played in the history of the NHL, definitely of recent generations.

Oilers: Holland’s 3 Best and Worst Moves as GM
June 28, 2024 by Rupert McDonald
One of the worst-kept secrets in hockey is over, as it was officially confirmed on Thursday (June 27) that Ken Holland will not be returning as the general manager (GM) of the Edmonton Oilers in 2024-25. He was in the final year of a five-year contract signed back in 2019, resulting in plenty of rumours swirling regarding his future in Edmonton.
