Predicting the Maple Leafs’ 2024 Stanley Cup Playoff Roster

We are only 16 games away from the 2024 NHL Playoffs, and now is when coaches experiment with different line combinations. The Toronto Maple Leafs experiments are in full force due to injuries. Head coach Sheldon Keefe lost both Mitch Marner and Calle Jarnkrok to injuries within a week of each other, which means that the top line is missing their first and second options. Keefe has had to get creative, which should make it much easier to adjust when injuries occur in the postseason.

Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan is making his mark in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with his phenomenal performance for the London Knights. He’s also supporting his choice as the Maple Leafs’ first-round pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. Cowan was selected 28th overall by the Maple Leafs.

Nick Robertson Gets Shot with Maple Leafs as Jarnkrok on LTIR

The Toronto Maple Leafs faced another setback this week as forward Calle Jarnkrok was moved back to long-term injured reserve. He suffered the injury during the team’s recent victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on March 14th and while the timing isn’t great, it does provide an opportunity for Nick Robertson, who was publicly disappointed with the way he’s been shuffled up and down from the NHL to the AHL.

The matchup was thrilling, but the result was more than frustrating for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Ultimately, the Carolina Hurricanes overcame a late deficit to pull out a 5-4 shootout victory over the home team Maple Leafs. Sebastian Aho stood out for the Hurricanes, contributing two goals and an assist. Newcomer Jake Guentzel played the hero in the shootout, scoring the decisive goal to steal the win for Carolina.
