Devils and Sharks Swap Goaltenders at Trade Deadline
March 8, 2024 by Justin Giampietro
On March 8, the San Jose Sharks dealt goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen to the New Jersey Devils in a one-for-one goalie swap to acquire Vitek Vanecek. It’s no secret that New Jersey has been struggling with goaltending all season long, so they went out and got another one on top of Jake Allen. In the final season of a $2.75 million contract, the Devils will have to extend Kahkonen to retain his rights next season. Otherwise, he’ll become an unrestricted free agent.
Devils Acquire Jake Allen From Canadiens For Draft Pick

The New Jersey Devils have acquired goaltender Jake Allen from the Montreal Canadiens for a conditional third-round pick.
Jets Acquire Miller From Devils For 2026 Fourth-Round Pick
March 8, 2024 by Jordan Slompo
The Winnipeg Jets have acquired defenseman Colin Miller from the New Jersey Devils for a 2026 fourth-round pick.
Jets Acquire Tyler Toffoli From the Devils
March 8, 2024 by JP Gambatese
Despite being touted as Stanley Cup favorites before the season started, the New Jersey Devils have found themselves out of a playoff spot with less than a quarter of the season remaining. As such, off-season acquisition Tyler Toffoli has been traded to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for two draft picks. In this deal, New Jersey will retain 50 percent of Toffoli’s contract to make the cap hit work for Winnipeg.
Is Travis Green the Long-Term Solution for the Devils?
March 8, 2024 by Jordan Slompo
On Monday, the New Jersey Devils relieved head coach Lindy Ruff of his duties, replacing him with assistant coach Travis Green on an interim basis. Despite leading the team to the longest winning streak in franchise history during the 2022-23 season (52 wins), the team’s underperformance in 2023-24 led to Ruff’s dismissal after 60 games (30-27-4).
Devils Paying the Price Without Dougie Hamilton
March 5, 2024 by Daniel Amoia
This New Jersey Devils season has been a fiasco, including the firing of head coach Lindy Ruff on March 4. While the organization needed to act, a plethora of issues (aside from Ruff) have led to a subpar 30 wins in 61 games. You name it: goaltending, execution, and injuries, have all been issues, and it’s easy to overlook the fact that a 20-year-old Luke Hughes was given the near-impossible task of filling a massive role when Dougie Hamilton went down with a torn pectoral muscle in November.
Devils Need to Trade Toffoli to Be Contenders in 2024-25
March 5, 2024 by Josh Reinitz
While many fans got what they have been asking for with the team moving on from head coach Lindy Ruff, even the most ardent New Jersey Devils fan would be difficult to convince that much more than a sliver of hope remains in the quest to make it back to the playoffs. The Devils have had multiple chances since the All-Star Break to right the ship, and whenever there is a brief glimmer of hope, the door slams, extinguishing the light.
