Sharks’ Devin Cooley Faces Uncertain Future
April 19, 2024 by William Espy
Devin Cooley’s feel-good journey to the San Jose Sharks is well documented. When it happened, it seemed the trade deadline deal was simply a move to bring a hometown player into the mix to close out the season. However, he’s had a couple of very strong performances since he arrived which may have pushed him into the Sharks’ plans, but a lack of consistency over the six games he took the ice for the Sharks and a few very bad performances to end the season make the decision much more difficult.

Sharks’ Granlund & Sturm Can Be Team’s Next Veteran Leaders
April 13, 2024 by Alex Hutton
The San Jose Sharks will enter the 2024 offseason full of question marks, but perhaps no question mark is bigger than the one surrounding who the team’s veteran leaders will be. At the start of this season, it was assumed that the role would be filled primarily by Tomas Hertl and Logan Couture. But with the former now a Vegas Golden Knight and the latter’s remaining career uncertain due to injury, there’s a clear void of veterans in San Jose, and the coaches and executives need some experienced players to help guide the team through the rest of their rebuild. If the Sharks want to look within the organization for veteran leadership, they should focus on forwards Mikael Granlund and Nico Sturm. Both of them have several of the qualities the Sharks need to look for in seasoned players, and can embrace an opportunity to take on new chapters in their careers.
The Sharks are Developing Future NHL Captains
April 10, 2024 by William Espy (Substack Premium)
The San Jose Sharks have a few players on their roster who show the leadership and mindset to be future captains in the NHL. They may or may not achieve that goal, as only 32 men can hold that honor at any given time, but at some point down the line, the three players mentioned here will undoubtedly be deserving of the honor.
