Flyers News & Rumors: Michkov, Seeler, Lycksell & More
February 24, 2024 by Justin Giampietro
The Philadelphia Flyers are sitting at a 30-20-7 record and third place in the Metropolitan Division, trying to cement their spot as a playoff team in the Eastern Conference. That was aided on Feb. 22 with a regulation loss for the New Jersey Devils and New York Islanders but hurt with wins for the Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals. Three teams below their 67-point mark are sitting at 60 points in their division, with none of them having more than two games in hand. Dave “The Hammer” Schultz: Flyers’ Legendary Enforcer
February 23, 2024 by Matthew Ward
Dave “The Hammer” Schultz is known as one of hockey’s greatest enforcers. An NHL veteran of nine seasons with four different teams, the left-winger became a legendary member of the Philadelphia Flyers’ famous band of Stanley Cup-winning tough guys, the Broad Street Bullies. Along with legendary Flyer teammates Bobby Clarke, Bernie Parent, Bill Barber, and Reggie Leach, the left-winger captured two championships in 1974 and 1975. Outside of Philadelphia, hockey fans and insiders from across the league often associate his name with the NHL’s “Schultz Rule,” a policy that banned the use of boxing hand wraps by enforcers for protection during fights.

The New York Rangers have been dealing with adversity as of late, but still find themselves in a comfortable spot heading toward the 2024 Trade Deadline. After a massive comeback victory against the New York Islanders, they find themselves focused on their next matchup against the Dallas Stars on Tuesday (Feb. 20), where they will look to build off their strong game. As they head toward the trade deadline, they will be focused on adding assets to bolster their lineup in hopes of making a deep playoff run. One player they have reportedly been connected to is Philadelphia Flyers’ forward Scott Laughton, who could provide stability to the Rangers’ forward depth.
