The Devils had a few days off after splitting back-to-back games against Chicago and Vancouver. They practiced twice after calling up Max Willman and Shane Bowers from Utica, then headed to Florida to face the Lightning and the Panthers. With almost half of their salary cap unable to play due to injury, the road trip seemed daunting.
