Oilers’ Sam Carrick Building Trust with New Team Since Deadline
March 17, 2024 by Jesse Courville-Lynch
The Edmonton Oilers have proven they are going all-in this season and made their intentions known with the acquisitions of Adam Henrique and Sam Carrick. While they have now each played several games and have been playing well in their roles with their new teams, Carrick has been standing out in a big way for many reasons. Henrique was acquired to add depth as an established two-way forward who had been solid with the Anaheim Ducks this season, and Carrick was brought in as someone to add internal competition and bring a physical game to the bottom six. Carrick dropped the gloves in his first game with the Oilers and, since then, has proven himself to be a strong addition who should be able to help them make a deep playoff run.

It was billed as a match-up of Stanley Cup contenders and Hart Trophy candidates at Rogers Place on Saturday (March 16), and in both cases, the host came up short, as Nathan MacKinnon and the Colorado Avalanche beat Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers 3-2.

March 17, 2024 by Jesse Courville-Lynch
The Edmonton Oilers took an unfortunate overtime loss on Saturday (Mar. 16) night against the Colorado Avalanche at home, but one positive did come out of the game for the Oilers. Veteran forward Corey Perry got a secondary assist on the Oilers’ second goal of the night, which Sam Carrick scored, giving Perry the 900th point of his career. With the one point they got and the Vancouver Canucks losing, the Oilers are now only eight points back from being first in the Pacific Division with three games in hand.
McDavid vs. MacKinnon Art Ross Trophy Race Key to Big Matchup
March 16, 2024 by Jim Parsons
In a highly anticipated showdown, the Edmonton Oilers are gearing up to clash with the Colorado Avalanche for the first time this season. This matchup carries significant weight, especially considering the history between these two teams. For the Oilers, it’s about exercising demons and picking up a win against a top Western Conference opponent. For the Avalanche, it’s about showing their sweep of the Oilers in the 2022 Western Conference Final was not a fluke. As both teams are considered Stanley Cup contenders, their three encounters as the 2023-24 NHL season winds down promise to be intense battles. The personal matchup between Connor McDavid and Nathan MacKinnon will personify all three.
Oilers’ Hyman Deserves Much More Attention for Amazing Season
March 16, 2024 by Brian Swane
Just 103 seconds remained in the Edmonton Oilers’ 7-2 victory over the Washington Capitals on Wednesday (March 13) when the announcement was made at Rogers Place.
“There has been a scoring change on the Oilers’ fifth goal, originally credited to Evan Bouchard. That goal at 19:08 of the second period is now awarded to Zach Hyman.”
Predicting Oilers’ Extensions for Adam Henrique and Sam Carrick
March 16, 2024 by Jesse Courville-Lynch
The Edmonton Oilers made a splash at the 2024 Trade Deadline and proved they were going all-in with the acquisitions of Adam Henrique and Sam Carrick from the Anaheim Ducks. They both had money retained on their respective contracts so that the Oilers could make other moves, and they did just that, acquiring defenceman Troy Stecher. While Stecher was brought in as a seventh defender and Carrick as a bottom-six forward, the Oilers brought in Henrique with hopes he could bolster their depth at both ends of the ice. In his first few games with the team, he has proven he can be valuable to their lineup down the stretch.
