Canucks' 3 Up, 3 Down: Playing Full 60 Minutes, Elias Pettersson Disappears & More
March 18, 2024 by Matthew Zator (THW Premium Content)
The Vancouver Canucks had an impressive start to their nine-game homestand, winning 5-0 against the Winnipeg Jets, but have since stumbled against the Colorado Avalanche and Washington Capitals. In the former, they blew a 3-0 lead and lost 4-3 in overtime, and in the latter, despite scoring first again, lost 2-1 after a lackluster second period in which they got outshot 14-5. They are now 1-1-1 on the homestand and will face another desperate team in the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday.
3 Canucks Prospects to Watch in Abbotsford Before AHL Playoffs
March 18, 2024 by Matthew Zator
With 12 games remaining on their schedule, the Abbotsford Canucks sit sixth in the Pacific Division with 68 points, 12 clear of the eighth-place Henderson Silver Knights and two up on their rival the Calgary Wranglers. The top seven teams in the division make the playoffs, so unless they have a massive meltdown in their final games and the Silver Knights go on a winning streak, they will be competing for the Calder Cup for the third straight year since entering the American Hockey League (AHL) in 2021. On that note, let’s look at a few Canucks prospects everyone should be keeping an eye on as Abbotsford prepares for their latest playoff run.
Canucks’ Unrestricted Free Agents Re-Sign or Pass
March 16, 2024 by Sartaaj Bhullar
The organization will have multiple unrestricted free agents who have played a key role in the club’s success this season. The Canucks have nine UFAs and $25.528 million in cap space. However, with restricted free agent Filip Hronek likely getting north of $7 million, the Canucks will have less than $18 million in cap space. Therefore, the organization will have to re-sign some and pass on others.

March 16, 2024 by Lukas Bernasiewicz
On Wednesday evening, the Vancouver Canucks announced that the team had assigned defenceman Elias Pettersson to Abbotsford of the AHL. With this move, Pettersson will get his first taste of North American hockey during Abbotsford’s final stretch of games before and hopefully during the playoffs.
