The Wayne Simmonds Story: From Scarborough to the NHL

After 15 remarkable years in the NHL, Wayne Simmonds, though yet to make it official, has announced that he is stepping away from the game. In an interview with Joshua Clipperton of The Canadian Press, the 35-year-old forward expressed gratitude for the unforgettable journey his hockey career provided him.
In Simmonds’ words, “I haven’t officially announced my retirement, but I’m done.” In his decision, he highlighted the significance of spending time with his family after dedicating himself to the sport he loved.
Flyers’ Konecny, Ersson Lead the Way in 4-1 Win vs. Jets

On Feb. 8, the Philadelphia Flyers got their second win in as many games since the All-Star Break with a 4-1 victory over one of the best teams in the Western Conference, the Winnipeg Jets. It’s been fun to monitor the emergence of the Philadelphia Flyers this season, but their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate Lehigh Valley Phantoms has had some individuals take some big strides. Most notably, 21-year-old Samu Tuomaala is having an exceptional season for them in his first full season in North America.
It wasn’t always pretty for Tuomaala, though. Very early, the 2021 second-round pick for the Orange and Black looked to be a miss. He had serious bust potential but has since turned it around and become one of the Flyers’ best prospects. How did this happen?

On Feb. 2, the NHL announced that not only will the league be participating in the 2026 and 2030 Olympics, but it will host a 4 Nations Face-Off in 2025, featuring Canada, the United States, Sweden and Finland that will essentially function as a truncated World Cup of Hockey.
