Canadiens Could Have a Quiet 2024 Trade Deadline
March 6, 2024 by Trege Wilson
With the NHL trade deadline a few days away, rumours are flying about who the Montreal Canadiens will trade and what type of return the team may get for each player. The biggest trade-bait fish the Habs had was already moved when they traded Sean Monahan to the Winnipeg Jets for a first-round pick. After the Monahan deal, there isn’t much value left that general manager Kent Hughes is willing to give up easily. Hughes is notorious for standing pat until he gets a deal that he feels is good for the team, and because of this, Montreal could have a very quiet deadline.
Canadiens Can be Buyers at 2024 Trade Deadline
March 2, 2024 by Blain Potvin
The Montreal Canadiens sit in the bottom 10 spots of the NHL standings, making them a draft lottery team. Because of that, General Manager (GM) Kent Hughes will be a seller for the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. Just because the team is a seller doesn’t mean he can’t add other valuable assets in a package with a veteran to sweeten a trade offer to attempt to add a piece that can be of long-term assistance.
Montreal Canadiens Rebuild Almost Complete
March 7, 2024 by Blain Potvin
The Montreal Canadiens’ rebuild is two full seasons into its arc. General manager (GM) Kent Hughes arrived with a plan, and fans expected that it would take time. It needs to be repeated, you don’t complete a genuine rebuild in 18 months. It will take patience because they are starting from scratch by building the tools they need to execute their plans. By hiring more scouts, building analytics and player development departments and implementing individual development plans. The future looks good, even though the present doesn’t.
Likeliest Canadiens on the Move as Harvey-Pinard Returns from Injury
March 3, 2024 by Ryan Szporer
If only Rafael Harvey-Pinard played centre. It would make his imminent return from injury that much simpler.
The Canadiens are obviously thin at centre with injuries to Kirby Dach and Christian Dvorak. Claiming Colin White, just to be able to send Brandon Gignac down to help the Laval Rocket by all appearances, serves as further proof to that effect. White’s best days are obviously behind him, despite being just 27 years old, making him relatively expendable.
