Welcome to another edition of the Buds Breakdown Weekly…

Buds Breakdown Weekly (The Hockey Writers)

In this week’s edition, the Toronto Maple Leafs officially introduce Craig Berube as the 32nd head coach of the franchise.

Also, the Nashville Predators’ recent trade evokes a shot at a Mitch Marner trade and some who the Leafs could approach around Free Agency.

Let’s get into it…

Changes to Expect With Craig Berube

If you missed the press conference on May 17, which officially introduced Craig Berube as the Maple Leafs' new head coach, there was much to unpack about what he will do for this franchise. Wouldn’t you know it, the first thing the media asked about him was his thoughts on a team that failed to push through the First Round of the playoffs this year, the ‘Core Four’, and speculation of possible changes to be made within the roster. He didn’t seem too worried about the idea of changes. He mentioned that he, general manager Brad Treliving, and the president of hockey operations, Brendon Shanahan, “were on the same page.” So, how does this affect the team? Well, he was aware that the Leafs have some of the best talent in hockey, and it doesn’t mean that some players will stay, but he knows what to lay out in expectations for those star players.
