Matthews Inches 70 Goals
We can officially say that Auston Matthews is only one goal away from his targeted milestone of 70 goals. If he does, he will become the first player in Leaf's franchise history and the first to score 70 goals in the Salary Cap Era. He already passed Alex Ovechkin’s 65 goals in 2007-08, which was Ovechkin’s third season in the NHL, and it took Matthews eight seasons to reach that point; however, if Matthews could get to the 70 mark, then it’d be worth acknowledging.
