Bruins Deadline Decisions Loom Large
February 29, 2024 by Brandon Share-Cohen
The rapidly approaching 2024 NHL Trade Deadline is casting a spotlight on the Boston Bruins, who are faced with a long laundry list of needs. After setting records just a season ago and committing fully to competing for the Stanley Cup, the Bruins must now make difficult decisions that have to factor in many different considerations.
Bruins’ 3 Up, 3 Down: Swayman, Lohrei, Pastrnak & More
February 28, 2024 by Scott Roche
Since the All-Star Break, the Boston Bruins have struggled, to say the least. Holding onto leads, and struggles on the power play are just a few of the struggles that Jim Montgomery’s team is going through. Bruins Are Self-Crowned Kings of the Loser Point
February 27, 2024 by Drew Johnson
As of the morning of Feb. 27, the Boston Bruins are tied for the greatest number of points (82) in the NHL. They’re also tied for the most overtime and shootout losses – aka, “the loser point” – in the league this season (14) with only the New York Islanders matching them.
The NHL record for a single season, if you’re wondering, is 18 overtime losses. The Tampa Bay Lightning did it in 2008-09, the Florida Panthers in 2011-12, the New Jersey Devils in 2013-14 and the Philadelphia Flyers in 2014-15. The Panthers wound up making the playoffs with a 38-26-18 record (94 points). The Bruins’ franchise record is 16 overtime losses in the 2005-06 season where they missed the playoffs.
