Now, let’s get this preview started!
The Rangers (21-7-1) who are atop the Metropolitan Division will be taking on the Maple Leafs (16-6-6) who are second in the Atlantic Division. These two teams battled each other on December 12th, 2023 and the Maple Leafs came out victorious with a 7-3 win so the Rangers will be looking for revenge.
The Maple Leafs are coming off of a huge 7-0 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins and will be looking to continue building off of their offensive explosion while the Rangers are coming off of a 2-1 win over the Bruins, so both teams are coming in having won their last matchup.
Let’s now take a look at the Rangers’ projected lineup, game notes, and more.
Rangers’ Projected Lines:
Kreider - Zibanejad - Wheeler
Panarin - Trocheck - Lafreniere
Cuylle - Bonino - Brodzinski
Vesey - Goodrow - Pitlick
Lindgren - Fox
Miller - Trouba
Gustafasson - Schneider
Shesterkin
Kakko & Chytil Remain Out
The Rangers will still be without Kappo Kakko and Filip Chytil in their matchup against the Maple Leafs tonight, as they remain on injured reserve as both of them continue to recover from injury.
The Rangers have played well having dealt with injuries to Adam Fox and Igor Shesterkin earlier this season, so they’re used to playing shorthanded. Hopefully, they can continue to play well in the absence of two strong forwards.
Maple Leafs’ Projected Lines:
Knies - Matthews - Nylander
Bertuzzi - Tavares - Marner
Robertson - Domi - Jarnkrok
Mcmann - Kampf - Gregor
Reilly - Brodie
McCabe - Liljegren
Lagesson - Timmins
Jones
Both teams have been strong to start the 2023-24 season and will be poised for a win. The Maple Leafs will be without their starting goaltender Joseph Woll and are still playing without John Klingberg, Mark Giordano, and Matt Murray who are all on injured reserve.
The Maple Leafs have been slightly better offensively having scored 3.64 goals per game while the Rangers have scored 3.28 per game this season. Defensively, the Rangers have been better allowing only 2.72 goals per game while the Maple Leafs have allowed 3.18 goals per game.
This should be a fun game to watch as their most recent matchup was entertaining. However, hopefully, the Rangers can come away with a victory this time around.
