Blackhawks Final Home Game: Losses and Bright Futures Collide
An inside look into the Blackhawks unfortunate, yet optimistic 4-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes
Hey Blackhawks Fans,
The Chicago Blackhawks hosted their final home game of the season on April 14, and let’s be honest, the three games prior to that one could not have been less inspiring if they tried, so anything better than that would have been considered a “win.”
Thankfully, it was. Despite the 4-2 loss, the performance did bring some optimism for the future. Here are 3 thoughts from the game.
1. Effort Was Better
In my opinion, the most frustrating trend this season has been the effort level. The Blackhawks sometimes look like they could knock off a Stanley Cup contender, and other times, they look like the Junior teams could easily beat them, and there is no in-between.
When the Blackhawks faced the Dallas Stars on April 6 and won, despite Dallas being the second-best team in the NHL, that provided some clarity that this team is capable of skating with good teams. Don’t get me wrong, the Blackhawks are not a good team, but they have it in them. That win against Dallas was phenomenal. They held on for dear life, but they did enough to win. It might made me think that would give them some juice to close out their remaining 6 games, but we were humbled!
