Best UFA Wild Card Fantasy Player Picks for 2024-25 - Eastern Conference
If you're looking for some sleeper picks for next season, I've got some way too early predictions
The 2024-25 season isn’t quite around the corner and the rosters aren’t completely set, but it’s never too early to talk fantasy selections. The fun of doing so now is trying to get an early read on what might happen based on some of the moves that were made in free agency.
As such our picks are going to focus on the players who were signed this summer and pick the best of the bunch for your fantasy team. This article will focus on the Eastern Conference.
Boston Bruins
The Bruins signed two big names in Elias Lindholm and Nikita Zadorov. Beyond that, they added smaller pieces on lower salaries. If they can get Jeremy Swayman signed, he would be my pick in any fantasy pool. The net will be his and he’ll have a lot to prove after a monster long-term contract gets done.
Buffalo Sabres
Jason Zucker signed a one-year deal in Buffalo, while Sam Lafferty signed a two-year contract. But, the big signing was Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen in goal. The Sabres believe he’s their guy and inked him to a five-year deal worth $4.75 million per season. He played in 54 games last season and posted a 2.57 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage. Because it’s the Sabres, he might get overlooked for other netminders, but he’ll earn some points if Buffalo can find a way to be more competitive in 2024-25.
Carolina Hurricanes
The Hurricanes tried to fill a number of holes when some big names left for other teams. They inked Sean Walker and Shayne Gostisbehere on defense and then brought in some depth pieces at forward.
