Avalanche Outduel Jets 6-3 in Game 5, Take Series 4-1

The famous whiteout in Winnipeg huffed and puffed as much as it could, but it couldn’t stop the Colorado Avalanche. Nathan MacKinnon and company took Game 5 against the Winnipeg Jets 6-3, thus closing out the Round 1 series itself, 4-1. Taking the bout in five matches awards some extra time off. Colorado is pegged to do battle with the victor of the Vegas Golden Knights-Dallas Stars series, which is currently deadlocked at 2-2.

Colorado Eagles Playoff Recap & Outlook Into Next Season

The Colorado Eagles have ended their 2023-24 postseason. In a closely contested playoff series, the Eagles lost the first game by a score of 4-2. However, they bounced back to even the series at one with a thrilling 5-4 overtime victory in Game 2. The deciding game was a back-and-forth battle, but unfortunately, the Canucks were able to come out on top with a 2-1 overtime win, bringing an end to the Eagles' season. With the 2023-24 season officially under wraps, let's review their playoff stats and look into the offseason and how this team could look heading into the 2024-25 season.
Avalanche Special Teams Driving Success Against Jets in Round 1

The Colorado Avalanche dismantled the Winnipeg Jets 5-1 in Game 4 of their first-round series and took a commanding 3-1 series lead to put the Jets on the brink of elimination. The Avalanche – and goaltender Alexandar Georgiev – hunkered down after a demoralizing 7-6 loss in Game 1 and outscored the Jets 16-5 in the following three games, winning all three by a margin of at least three goals.
Avalanche Continue to Have Hellebuyck’s Number in Game 3 Win

With the first three games of their first-round series in the books, the Colorado Avalanche finish their first home game and now look to take the crucial 3-1 lead over the Winnipeg Jets before returning to Winnipeg. The Avalanche continue to pile on goals against goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, scoring six to finish out Game 3 and dominate the Jets by outshooting them 39-24.
Jets’ Goaltending Advantage Against Avalanche Hasn’t Materialized

Through the first two games of the series, which is tied 1-1 heading to Colorado, Connor Hellebuyck has not outplayed Alexandar Georgiev. Hellebuyck has allowed 10 goals and posted a 5.04 goals against average (GAA) and .870 save percentage (SV%,) while Georgiev has allowed nine goals and posted a 4.63 GAA and .830 SV%.
