NHL Rumors: Senators, Penguins, Flames, Bruins
November 2, 2023 by Jim Parsons
In today’s NHL rumors rundown, Michael Andlauer of the Ottawa Senators had a lot to say about why the NHL’s punishment to the Ottawa Senators was so stiff and he didn’t like at all how long it could to resolve the situation. Will Andlauer face any additional punishment for being so forthright? Meanwhile, are the Pittsburgh Penguins gearing up for a rebuild sooner than expected? The Boston Bruins like the idea of trading for a veteran defenseman, but aren’t willing to part with certain pieces. Finally, are the Boston Bruins eyeing players from the Calgary Flames?
Sabres News & Rumors: Luukkonen, Thompson & Biro
November 2, 2023 by The Old Prof
The Buffalo Sabres evened their season’s record at 5-5 when they beat the Philadelphia Flyers by a 5-2 score on the road. There were a number of stars for the Sabres in this win.
Owen Power played a pivotal role, scoring the tie-breaking goal early in the third period. Tage Thompson scored a goal and added two assists, and Brandon Biro contributed with two goals – the first goals of his NHL career. Casey Mittelstadt also scored and Alex Tuch registered two crucial assists. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, with a season-high 38 saves, played well in the crease to take home another win.
Maple Leafs News & Rumors: Matthews, Marner, Reaves & Ellis
November 2, 2023 by The Old Prof
On Thursday night (Nov. 2), the Toronto Maple Leafs meet the beast of the east in the Boston Bruins. As the team gets ready for their big showdown, in this edition of Maple Leafs News & Rumors, I’ll take a quick look at some of the key aspects of the team. Also, with the input of my sometimes writing colleague Stan Smith, I’ll speculate about some of the possible changes that might improve their play.
After a great road trip, the Maple Leafs just didn’t show up against the Los Angeles Kings in their first home game on Oct. 31. Perhaps it’s fortunate the team is headed back out on the road. What team will show up? The one that beat the Stars in Dallas or Tuesday’s moribund Maple Leafs?
