Kings: What’s Behind Pierre-Luc Dubois’ Struggles This Season?
April 9, 2024 by Michael Ostrower
Drafted third in the 2016 Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets, Pierre-Luc Dubois was a top prospect in a stacked draft class that saw Auston Matthews go first overall. He had a strong first few seasons, having 66 goals and 159 points in 239 games with Columbus before being traded to the Winnipeg Jets for Patrik Laine. Since the trade, he has struggled immensely, failing to find consistent offensive production. 3 Bold Predictions for Kings & Oilers Round 1 Series
April 22, 2024 by Michael Ostrower
The Edmonton Oilers and Los Angeles Kings are set to match up in the opening round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Edmonton, who started the season as one of the worst teams in the Western Conference before making the coaching change from Jay Woodcroft to Kris Knoblauch, finished second in the Pacific Division with a 49-27-6 record. Los Angeles, who also made a midseason coaching change from Todd McLellan to interim Jim Hiller, were a playoff-likely team the entire way. In an unpredictable season for these two teams, this series could be one of the most entertaining of them all.
Matt Roy’s Playoffs Will Determine His Kings’ Future
April 22, 2024 by Michael Ostrower
Matt Roy was selected 194th by the Los Angeles Kings’ in the 2015 NHL Draft and has completely outperformed his draft position. He debuted in the NHL in the 2018-19 season, playing just 25 games, but has since become a lineup regular. He is a dominant, two-way defenseman who embodies what it means to be a King, and he has gone through the team’s rebuild. Now entering their window of contention, an abundance of options in the defense may force Roy out of Los Angeles if he does not step up big in the 2024 Playoffs.
