4th-Quarter Player Grades for 2023-24 Season
The Flyers are officially done with their 2023-24 season, finishing with a 7-11-4 record in the final quarter and 38-33-11 overall.
The Philadelphia Flyers just missed out on the postseason due to their poor 7-11-4 record in the final quarter of the season. Their 2023-24 campaign was a largely successful one regardless.
For the final grading of the Flyers by quarter, we use some individual stats, advanced and on-ice numbers, plus the eye test to determine where each Flyer belongs. Like always, players will be graded from A-plus to below a D.
This quarter, we had just three players receive an A, eight receive a B, five receive a C, and a season-high 11 players get a D or below. In the third quarter, just 10 players received a C or below.
Overall, only four players saw a boost in their letter grade while eight saw a reduction. The Flyers as a whole had some severe regression, so their players did, too.
Now on to the grades…
A-plus to A-minus
Owen Tippett, Forward
Owen Tippett has taken a giant leap for Philadelphia. With 17 points in 22 games, he was the best on the team with a lot of those around him struggling.
Tippett had a plus-6 rating, but his on-ice stats were below average. If the 25-year-old can maintain this next season and build on that in the future, his $6.2 million salary for the next eight seasons will be a bargain.
Ryan Poehling, Forward
