Maple Leafs Should Avoid Kyle Okposo Trade With Sabres
March 6, 2024 by Jesse Courville-Lynch
The Toronto Maple Leafs made a splash when they acquired Ilya Lyubsuhkin from the Anaheim Ducks in a three-team trade on Feb. 29, which allowed them to bring him in at 75% retention. However, the team will want to continue improving their roster before the March 8 trade deadline, and there will be plenty of options available. With rumours surrounding most rebuilding teams, it isn’t surprising the Buffalo Sabres are among them, as their season hasn’t gone to plan. At the time of writing, they are 10 points behind the Tampa Bay Lightning for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference, and with only 20 games left in the regular season, their playoff chances are slim to none.
Maple Leafs News & Rumors: Kampf, Timmins & Playoff Success

Tonight’s game between the Buffalo Sabres and the Toronto Maple Leafs brings the surprising Sabres into Scotiabank Arena to meet a team they regularly beat. The Sabres will try for their third straight win over the Maple Leafs this season. In their last game, they dominated Toronto by a score of 9-3 on their home ice on December 21. On November 4, they won in Toronto by a score of 6-4. That’s 15 goals against the Maple Leafs in two games.
3 Maple Leafs Trade Targets From the Pacific Division
March 6, 2024 by Spencer Lazary
With the NHL Trade Deadline just days away, I’ve prepared a mini-series where I look at trade targets for the Toronto Maple Leafs in each of the four divisions. Next up is the Pacific Division, which could have the odds-on favourite for the Stanley Cup winner, the Vancouver Canucks. It also has the Edmonton Oilers, Vegas Golden Knights, and Los Angeles Kings, who are all locking up playoff spots.Â
Maple Leafs and Sean Walker a Perfect Match
March 6, 2024 by JP Gambatese
Even after acquiring defenceman Ilya Lyubushkin from the Anaheim Ducks, it’s been reported that the Toronto Maple Leafs are still looking to trade for defensive help on the right side. It makes sense — Lyubushkin is a depth option, but his shaky play this season likely means he’s in over his head if he garners top-four minutes. The Philadelphia Flyers, meanwhile, are shopping defencemen Nick Seeler and Sean Walker; the latter of the two fits the bill for the Maple Leafs’ wants and needs. If they were serious about fixing their blue line and competing for the Stanley Cup this season, Walker simply must be one of, if not their frontrunner for defensive help.
Maple Leafs Need to Prioritize a Juuse Saros Trade This Offseason
March 5, 2024 by Jesse Courville-Lynch
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been playing solid hockey as of late, and find themselves in a strong position heading into the 2024 Trade Deadline. They made a splash recently by acquiring Ilya Lyubushkin from the Anaheim Ducks in a three-team deal after missing out on Chris Tanev, who was traded to the Dallas Stars, and now have one less hole to fill. While the acquisition of Lyubushkin isn’t the saving grace, it gives them depth heading into the postseason even if they aren’t able to bring in another defender on or before the March 8 deadline. Luckily, they haven’t had to focus on upgrading between the pipes as Joseph Woll has returned from injury and Ilya Samosnov has been playing well after a poor start to the season, but there is someone they should target in the offseason.
Maple Leafs News & Rumors: Woll, Tavares, Lyubushkin & Rielly
March 5, 2024 by The Old Prof
Hockey can be unpredictable, and the Toronto Maple Leafs experienced this firsthand in their 4-1 loss to the Boston Bruins on Monday night. Following their strong performance against the New York Rangers just two nights prior, it was like a different team showed up.
3 Maple Leafs Trade Targets From the Central Division
March 5, 2024 by Spencer Lazary
With the NHL Trade Deadline just days away, I’ve prepared a mini-series where I look at trade targets for the Toronto Maple Leafs in each of the four divisions. Next up is the Central Division, a division that could have some serious sleepers for Stanley Cup winners. The Central doesn’t have too many teams that are out of the playoff race; however, the teams that are out of the playoffs could be trade partners for the Maple Leafs.Â
Pettersson Contract Proof of Maple Leafs’ Lack of Negotiation Skill
March 5, 2024 by JP Gambatese
On Saturday, it was announced that Vancouver Canucks’ franchise player Elias Pettersson signed an eight-year contract extension in which he will be the recipient of $11.6 million annually. He was set to become a restricted free agent after this season, and there were some questions as to whether he wanted to sign a long-term or short-term deal, or if he was going to be moved for a king’s ransom in the case that he didn’t want to return to Vancouver at all.
3 Maple Leafs Trade Targets From the Metro Division
March 5, 2024 by Spencer Lazary
With the NHL Trade Deadline less than a week away, I thought it would be cool to do a mini-series where I look at trade targets for the Toronto Maple Leafs in each of the four divisions. First up is the Metropolitan Division, a division that has been known to be a challenge; unfortunately, it has a few teams that are out of the race for a playoff spot and could be a potential trade partner for the Maple Leafs.Â
Evgeny Kuznetsov Could Get Fresh Start With Maple Leafs
March 5, 2024 by Andrew Forbes
After a recent stint with the NHL’s player assistance program, veteran forward Evgeny Kuznetsov was placed on waivers and sent down by the Washington Capitals — loaning him to their AHL affiliate Hershey Bears.
