Three teams in the 2024 offseason had objectively flawed approaches. Today, it’s biting them.

I’ll be looking at the Boston Bruins, Nashville Predators, and Buffalo Sabres for this post and try to figure out what went wrong.

Boston Bruins

Even at the time, the Bruins’ approach to the 2024 offseason seemed flawed. But do they really have themselves to blame for an up-and-down season that could see them missing the playoffs for the first time since 2015-16? If you want the truth, probably.

Last season, the Bruins’ goaltending was superb. Saving 31.98 shots above expected, the lovable tandem of Jeremy Swayman and Linus Ullmark was oh-so-good. Irreplaceable, in fact.
