As the Edmonton Oilers get set to battle the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference Final, can the team finally get over the hump? This is the second time in three seasons they’ve been in this position.

Here are 15 pre-series thoughts.

  1. Heading into the series, the Oilers are the underdogs. The Stars are widely considered the deepest team in the playoffs. Edmonton has struggled a bit to get production from all four lines. The Stars will get contributions from everyone.

  2. The Canucks took the same approach the LA Kings did and tried to intimidate the Oilers physically. They hit everything that moved in all seven games but Game 6. The Stars do not play that style of game. They rank 14 of 16 playoff teams in Hits/60.
